  • Romantic Getaway

My wife and I stayed here for two nights to celebrate our anniversary.

The suite was huge and very beautiful with a refrigerator stocked with water, soft drinks and candy bars. It also had a 50 inch flat screen t.v. in the living room which was nice.

The bedroom had a huge bed with wine, grapes and walkout doors to a patio overlooking the ocean. The beach had beautiful sand and clear water. There was very little seaweed but the waves were really big and were knocking people down.

As other reviews mention, there is a daily happy hour on the patio from 4 to 5pm. You can attend in your bathing suit or as you are as it is very informal. You can get beer, margarita, long island tea, etc. for no charge.

The breakfast buffet each morning is awesome. A chef makes to order omelets and they have potatoes, sausage, etc.

We ate both nights at the on site restaurant called The Beachwalk. You have to have reservations for this spot.  Food was outstanding. Plan on two hours for the dinner experience.

Lunches are boxed up from Heavenly Ham and are good. The staff at the hotel are all very professional and helpful. There is a Publix a few blocks away if you need to purchase any supplies.  There is a small restaurant down the street within walking distance callded Camillas. Try their roast beef sandwich which is piled high in between two halfs of garlic bagel. Awesome!

One last note–they gave us a CD to take home that has photos of the resort and music. Nice touch. I highly recommend this spot for adults seeking a romantic getaway with no kids in sight.

  • Loved The Henderson - Great Location...

My husband and I recently stayed at The Henderson Park Inn and had a wonderful time. Our stay was much too short and we would love to go back sometime in the future. It is an adults only inn which we loved! That was one of our main reasons for staying there.

The Henderson has a fantastic location with white, sandy beaches and access to the Gulf. One side of it is located next to a state park and the beach seems to have more privacy because of that. Every morning the staff put out beach umbrellas with two chairs under each umbrella. There were always enough for everyone and it was not necessary to reserve umbrellas or chairs which was a great added feature. Beach towels were plentiful and easily accessed.

The breakfast was fantastic–very tasty, plenty of it and basically anything you would want. The chef made omelettes or whatever you wanted. Oh, and the fresh squeezed orange juice was wonderful! You could eat inside or outside on the balcony. There was a window of time for breakfast which was very nice as you didn’t have to rush down to breakfast at a set time. Boxed lunches from Honey Baked Ham were provided with your choice of sandwich or salad from a selection sheet. You could eat your lunch anywhere you wanted–even on the beach. After lunch, lemonade and cookies were provided.

Around 4:00 was happy hour. They seemed to have almost anything you would want. The frozen strawberry margaritas were very good. We took ours to the beach.

The Beach Walk Cafe was its onsite restaurant. We ate dinner there one evening and had a fantastic waitress. The gourmet food was good and we had a great time as we ate on the balcony. It is wise to get a reservation for dinner before the evening you plan to eat there as they get very booked and the more desirable times go quickly. We made our reservation before we left home. The Henderson has a great balcony area which is where the happy hour is located.

There is shade as well as sunny areas on the balcony with plenty of seating and even a swing. Small refrigerators in the lobby area are stocked with complimentary water, soda and candy. A coffee machine is located there as well. You can always find what you are looking for.

  • Wonderful Anniversary Trip

We had a fantastic stay at Henderson Park Inn. From our arrival to our departure, the entire trip was magnificent. Our room was an Executive Suite: spacious, great balcony, jetted Whirlpool tub.

The breakfasts were wonderful everyday, from the freshly made omlets to the fabulous fresh berries. I loved the snack fridge. The complementary beach towels and beach chairs were an added bonus.

Brad at the Tiki bar handled the happy hour crowd well. Natalie at the front desk was terrific, as was the whole stafff! Very friendly and helpful.

  • DO NOT miss the Henderson Park Inn

Strange that I’m the first reviewer for the HPI, but let me tell you, this place is incredible. First off, the location alone is worth five stars. At the end of the road, next to Henderson Beach State Park, the seclusion you get staying here in the otherwise crowded Destin area is unparalleled. The food, service and overall experience is top-notch.

From the manager that takes your reservation to the chef and wait staff that serve you in the restaurant, you’re treated like the only guest there. Beach Walk, the restaurant, is amazing, as is the complimentary breakfast that guests receive. My wife and I were treated to incredible creations all three mornings we were there. Lunch is provided as a box-lunch style offering, from the Honeybaked Ham store. Nothing too fancy, but it’ll hit the spot if you’re sticking around the Inn.

There are no children at the HPI…it’s adults only, and it’s 100% worth it. Celebrating an anniversary? Engagement? A weekend away from the kids? This is the place. If you want to relax with your significant other, there’s nothing better. The staff is as accommodating as any Ritz or Four Seasons. Now, in fairness, the rooms and bathrooms at the HPI are nice, but it’s not marble and crystal everywhere. This is just an incredibly well-run B&B, with great accommodations. It’s as relaxing a time you could have on the Gulf coast, IMHO. I imagine that the experience at the HPI is what life was like before all the development in the Destin area.

Bottom line, if you’re looking for a couples-only romantic vacation, DO NOT miss the Henderson Park Inn.

  • Our second visit... and it won't be our last

My husband and I LOVE the Henderson Park Inn when we want to get away for a truly relaxing time together.

The rooms are spacious and lovely. It’s right on the gorgeous beach where they set up beach chairs and umbrellas for guests every day, you don’t have to do anything for breakfast or lunch other than mosey over to the dining room, and they have happy hour on the deck every afternoon.

The only thing you have to think about while you’re there is keeping on the sunscreen and deciding where you’ll go to dinner at night. Perfect!

  • Such a GREAT place

We happened upon Henderson Park Inn, and couldn’t believe we found it.

Chef cooked breakfast, box lunch and 4 pm happy hour are all included. It is right on the water, and although all the rooms face the Gulf, some have sort of a “side” view.

Their staff is exceptional. The food at their restaurant is very good. Age 25 and up, so it’s just for the grownups.

They put chairs and umbrellas out every morning, and the private, beautiful white beach is just steps away from the back deck. While it is called a “bed and breakfast” it is more like a boutique hotel. The rooms have tvs (they are small) and refrigerators.

It is a lovely, beautiful, great place to stay.

  • "Nice room, great location and no international travel required!"

Spent 4 nights at HPI. Location is terrific right on the beach and just off of Hwy 98 near shopping and restaurants.

Room we stayed in was a Coastline Suite, was pretty with a nice view and small balcony that looked west down the beachline. Bed was very comfortable and room was always cleaned nicely.

Nice bar out on the deck where people would congregate for happy hour and overlook the gulf. The included breakfast was very good with most anything you would find at a normal buffet type American breakfast to include omelets made to order, fresh fruit and pastries amongst many other items. Lunches were box lunches from Honey Baked Ham. We weren’t familiar with Honey Baked Ham until our stay, but the sandwiches were quite good for a box lunch.

There was a fridge down in the lobby with cold sodas and candy that was complementary and always ready for the taking. Warm cookies and lemonade were also complementary and available in the afternoons.

No complaints to be had about the beach. Warm clear water and the white sand beaches that are the signature of this stretch of the gulf coast. A sandbar just off the shoreline seems to even block any of the seaweed that can sometimes be found along other parts of the gulf. We ate dinner at the restaurant located on site and it was very good, but fairly expensive, but the quality was in line with the price. We had a terrific stay and I really have no complaints at all. It is easy to start comparing everything to the pricing at all inclusive mexican resorts, but this is not really in the same category. HPI is a cozy, private location and has a totally different feel. Even though at peak seasons you might pay a little more than you would at an AI without getting a dinner and show routine, but HPI is well worth it if you want a private and classy but relaxed vacation. They also have local & military specials so inquire if you might qualify.
